After Consett YMCA’s first trip to Hungary to partake in the Shuttlecock football Hungarian Open (2007) England Team were invited to both return to Hungary in 2009 and also to play in the German Open in 2009.

On Hungarian Open two british team met, the well-known from Consett and a new one from Manchester.

A group of 4 people from the YMCA took a trip to Hagen, where they spent 4 days competing in a series of matches as a team and as singles.

The YMCA was up against teams from Austria, Finland, Serbia and many more.

They performed their best ever and ended up beating 3 German teams and 1 Austrian team.
